Our Exclusive Artists

After decades of working together with mainly indigenous Australian Artists through the efforts of Patriarch the late Tony Andreou, (see early examples in “Our Story” )

Gianluca Ruscio and Davide Monteseno are the two gifted artists entrusted by the Andreou family to use their exclusive and Irreplaceable 60+ Year Heritage collection of Australian opals in the next stage of bringing to life what is Art of opal.

Through their distinct yet complementary approaches to oil and mixed-media painting, they translate the stones’ inner fire and kaleidoscopic hues into timeless works of fine art on museum-quality canvas.

“It is a real pleasure to have met these talented artists during my years in Italy and we are thrilled to work together with them in this melding of two ancient cultures” Alex Andreou

Gianluca Ruscio

Gianluca Ruscio, born in 1990 in the province of Vicenza, Italy, grew up in a family of painters spanning three generations. This artistic environment nurtured his creativity from an early age and helped him refine his techniques over time. He specializes in oil and acrylic painting, mediums through which he best expresses his artistic vision.
He has always had a natural inclination for painting wild nature, which are his greatest passion and a constant source of inspiration in his work.

Throughout his professional journey, he has had the opportunity to create artworks for private collectors around the world and to collaborate with Discovery through the Opal Whisperers Family.

Davide Monteseno

Davide Monteseno was born in Foggia, Italy, in 1996. From 2010 to 2015 he studied foreign languages and literature. From 2015 to 2021, he attended the Painting course at the Academy of Fine Arts, where he grew more and more fascinated with painting and drawing. He obtained the second level academic diploma at the end of his five year course with the highest grade, with a thesis inexperimental chalcography. Since 2016 he has been exhibiting his work in shows, collectives and art residencies in different cities of Italy, as Rome, Verona, Florence and Bari.

His work collects fantasies, visions and memories, images sometimes pertinent to the oniric dimension, often belonging to a symbolic and enchanted geography. Most of these impressions seem to be both intimidating and familiar. Davide’ s approach to painting is as meticulous as it is carefree, using different medias, from pencils and charcoal, to watercolour and oil or acrylic paint, from linen to cardboard.

Both of these dynamic artists passionately focus on Art of Opal Renditions exclusively with Art of Opal, Opal Whisperers and the Andreou Family.
